Tracrium Injection is a skeletal muscle relaxant used in addition to general anesthesia, to facilitate endotracheal intubation and to provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation.
Tracrium Injection can cause skin flushing or redness, injection site reactions, hives, itching, wheezing, shortness of breath, allergic reactions, fast or slow heart rate, low blood pressure and inadequate musculoskeletal block.
When not to use: It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug.

Drugs to avoid:
Drugs that may enhance the neuromuscular blocking action of atracurium include enflurane; isoflurane; halothane; certain antibiotics, especially the aminoglycosides and polymyxins; lithium; magnesium salts; procainamide; and quinidine.

Atracurium besylate injection, which has an acid pH, should not be mixed with alkaline solutions (e.g., barbiturate solutions) in the same syringe or administered simultaneously during intravenous infusion through the same needle. Depending on the resultant pH of such mixtures, atracurium may be inactivated and a free acid may be precipitated.
Precaution
Atracurium has no known effect on consciousness, pain threshold, or cerebration. It should be used only with adequate anesthesia.
